so, i spent most of my night last night experimenting with different kinds of settings so as to try and record Overwatch through OBS.
after some trial and error i found that the x264 encoder worked out best. i have it at a 20k bitrate, at 1080p and 60fps, and for the most part it seems to run totally smoothly... except for when the game is loading up and the character select screen. it stutters like crazy! here's a test video for visual. the part between 0:57 and 1:17 is where it stutters, but the rest runs with no problems.
just to note, in-game it didn't lag at all. it's only the video itself that stutters.
i already tried setting it to 30fps and the exact same thing happened. it also happened when i used the AMD encoder at both framerates too (but it was also prone to stuttering at random intervals in general too, which is why i found it unrealiable and went back to X264).
does anyone who is familiar with Overwatch and OBS know if there's something i can do about this? a lot of my in-game settings for CPU based enhancements are set to low, and most of the GPU is medium or low too. i'm not sure if this is just one of those things i'll just have to put up with, because otherwise it doesn't seem to affect the rest of the video and it's not too big of a deal. but it would be nice to not have this issue!
