I just did my second stream. I have a bunch of short vids that I trigger that overlay on top of my live stream. They're done in After Effects and contain the Alpha Channel so they're pre-keyed. I then transcode them in Compressor to bring the bit rate down so they're slimmer files.
When we're rehearsing, the vids play seamlessly. When we started streaming, the CPU on the iMac started getting bogged down and the stream preview window started to get choppy.
1. Should I be running those overlays from an external drive?
2. When I click "Start Streaming", does that start a heavy CPU load? (perhaps the encoding starts and the CPU is hit hard?)
