Question / Help Overlay in sony vegas pro

Hi I have tried countless times to make an overlay for my stream in sony vegas pro but the transparent bottom section is black and blocks out the gameplay. I have been screen shooting the overlay image as a jpeg file. I have looked at youtube but there are no tutorials that I can see for obs. I use overlays all the time on my youtube videos but obs is new to me.
 
You should save as PNG and make sure that the image has transparency using a good image editor
