Last night was my first time trying to stream hearthstone and league of legends, after a few hours of research I finally got everything running smooth. Today however, ive been having FPS drops from OBS. My in game FPS is fine, its only the streaming FPS that drop. I have it set to 25fps and goes down to 10-20 constantly fluctuating.

My upload speed is just over 5.0

My max bitrate is set to 2500, I have lowered to between 1200 and 1500 as well but nothing has helped. Again I have the FPS set to 25 and my res downscale to 720. I have also tried lowering the resolution, but to no avail. A friend told me it may be my Ram which is only 4g on windows 7. I would like to confirm this before I invest in more memory. Thank you all for the help! Hope that we can get this fixed because I love OBS.

Sorry about that, the complete log is attached. A friend told me that RAM should help the problem. I only have 4 and im going to try and upgrade to around 8 or 12g. Please let me know if there are any other problem spots you see. thank you!

Don't use monitor capture on Windows 7, especially with Aero enabled. It is the worst capture method, and absolutely kills your performance. Game capture and Window capture with Aero enabled are both far better.

That alone should do wonders for your stream. You should be able to bump your FPS back up to 30 by that point.

RAM is actually not that important for improving stream quality.

Solved my FPS problem! Unfortunately it isn't very smooth :( its stutters every 2 seconds...just a minor stutter that would be highly annoying to view.

That latest log is only of local recordings or previews, not of streams. But they don't look like they are having a problem. Can you post a log of an actual stream with the new settings?

Same thing happened when I did an actual stream. I am connected wirelessly so that's most likely the issue if you don't see any problems. Last question, what's the best method to captures desk top?

It would still be nice to see a log of you streaming, though.

If you want to capture "whatever's on my monitor", the best way to do that is with a capture card. A capture card on a single-PC setup won't give you any performance improvement, but it's the best way to capture the contents of your monitor with the least hassle.

You can also use Monitor capture with Aero disabled, but that will give you a performance hit, and it can't capture fullscreen games (they have to be running in Windowed or Borderless mode).
