If you received a "Setup Failed" error message when trying to install one or both of the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables required by OBS, please complete the following steps.

  1. In Windows, navigate to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  2. Find and uninstall any existing entries for Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable or Runtime for years 2015, 2017, and 2019.
  3. Try to run the OBS-provided installers again.

sigh stream labs it is then... no reason why a program that worked yesterday should need this much alterations done to work, other then its a bad program

Blaming OBS for your system not having runtime packages properly installed isn't exactly a solution.

And calling OBS a bad program for requiring you to keep your system up to date is not fair either.

From time to time, I install OBS Studio as first app on a pristine, freshly installed Windows 10 system (from original image just downloaded from Microsoft). Not a single time OBS Studio (resp. the dependencies) failed to install. If it fails for you, your system is not up to date or somewhat broken. Consider Windows reinstall.
