Hey everyone,

I'm looking for some advice on the best OBS settings for my setup. My monitor is 1440p, and I want to stream at 1080p or 936p while also recording in 1440p. Here's what I'm considering:

  • Base Canvas: 1440p
  • Output Scaled Resolution: 1440p
  • Stream Resolution: 936p (or 1080p)
Is this setup optimal? Are there any tweaks or recommendations you can share to ensure the best quality for both streaming and recording? Thanks in advance!

My pc:
Ryzen 7800x3d
RTX 4090.

So is this a 3440 x 1440?
Then you are going to just scale it with OBS so it looks all squashed?
I think it may depend on the game settings if it's a game. Are the game settings for 1440? Then you may not want to downscale it if it is going to look squashed.
Only thing I did in my recent OBS settings was when I went to a wider output (1720 x 720) I multiplied the default bitrate by 3/2 because I was going up from 1280 to 1720 width while keeping 720 height.
