i've found nothing that relates to my situation when trying to look things up, so let me explain.
in summary, i stream my games with a game capture source for visuals and an application output audio capture source for.. well, audio.
what happens is that i'll open OBS to set things up, and then open a game, except i can't hear the game now for some reason. BUT, it's going through fine on stream and in recording. i can technically listen to it through audio monitoring, but it's often glitchy and delayed. it's only muted on my side. this doesn't happen if i open the game BEFORE i open OBS. (also, yes, i already tried messing around in volume mixer).
for most games this would be whatever, if you only play one game per stream and it doesn't crash and you don't have to restart. the problem is with the way the game i've been playing works (deltarune), switching to a new chapter from chapter select re-enables the bug ANYWAY. so, yeah, kind of annoying!
i was previously using game capture for audio as well, but switched away during a test recording. i recall that it fixed itself temporarily.
for transparency, i do use streamer.bot in my setup, but i've been able to recreate the bug without it open. if it's something obvious or simple that i just happened to miss, please let me know!! thank you!!!
