On Windows 11; OBS log says Windows 10

Diagnosing problems that began with upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Reverting to Windows 10 did not solve problems. None of the four combinations of OBS 29.x or OBS 30.x with Windows 10 or 11 work.

Before getting into the technical problems, I want to rule out something simple. On a Windows 11 laptop, where the System settings are displayed, it shows Windows 11 Home. But OBS log files say Windows 10. Is this a problem? Does everyone with Windows 11 get this in their log files?

You need at least 8 GB more of RAM. For some thing (like games) the new minimum is 32 GB.
The CPU you're using is too old. It could be great for office work but not good for modern streaming/recording.

The OBS log reports Windows 10 but the version build is Windows 11.
Providing a cut from the log file don't help at all. A full log file (attached in here) is needed. Of course, and attempt to record or streaming session (no less than 30 seconds) is extremely important to be reflected on the log file.

Yes, everyone. OBS log has more accurate naming in terms of versioned software. Microsoft shows to users more like "marketing" naming of the OS.

The true Windows version since Windows 10 is what you see as "OS build". The 5 digit number before the dot identifies what version of Windows you're running (what feature update (22H1, 22H2, 23H2) on which major version (10 or 11)), and the digits after the dot defines the patch level (what monthly cumulative update you installed last).

For example, just the 22621 says "Windows 11 22H2".

Thanks. I will post full log files when I get to the technical problems.

Live streaming from a camcorder, limiting it to 30 frames per second, not super high resolution; this is not nearly as demanding as the gaming that a lot of people are doing.

The U is the CPU name means Ultra low power (and performance) to enable longer battery life.
So be sure to keep an eye on thermal throttling, depending on how long your sessions are... With thermal throttling, when looking at default performance monitors, it may appears CPU and GPU aren't busy, when the reality is that the BIOS/OS is limiting performance (to protect from overheating, or to stay within power budget)... meaning you may do setup and it works, then it stops working after a little while (thermal throttling)...
just something to be aware of... may or may not impact you
