Question / Help On-screen recording status indicator

I'm using OBS to record videos. At the moment I record in a window, and have the OBS window down at the bottom of the screen, and I use the preview window as a visual reassurance that I have hit the record button and it's all working.

Another recording program I have used in the past is LoiLo - it has an overlay that shows when you are recording, and how long you have been recording for. This little overlay does not end up on the final video.

Is it possible to give OBS an overlay that lets me know whether I'm recording or not (the timer is a nice-to-have, but not essential).

Overlay as in when you're inside the game and unable to see anything else? May be done in the future, but currently not able to do it right at the moment.

Yes, if the game is taking up the entire screen, it would be just a little indicator in the corner of the screen that tells you whether you're recording or not, and it wouldn't be visible in the actual captured video. At the moment, say I was recording fullscreen and I accidentally tapped F6 - the video would stop recording, but there would be no way for me to know that it had happened. Or, if I'm starting a video and for some reason it didn't start recording, I wouldn't know until afterwards that nothing had been recorded.
