Question / Help On screen animations during live streams

Lately I have noticed more and more livestreamers have automated flash style on screen animations that are on par with what you would expect on the news ticker at the bottom of the news on TV. I was wondering if anyone knows what programs these people use and how they integrate this with OBS.

An example of what I am referring to is when live streamers have automated (and animated) popups on their live streams that will appear on screen when ever someone donates to them. If you are looking for an example of this then watch the following VOD http://www.twitch.tv/sacriel/b/445626472

Any infomation you could give me on how people do things such as this or what programs they use would be greatly appreciated

Similar things can be done with the browser plug-in, and will be possible with later versions of OBS directly

Since it's been a year may I ask if any of this is possible with the current version?

The browser source plugin is still available (as it was for the whole time). Progress on the obs rewrite is coming along good and this will sooner or later also include a similar browser source (maybe also other features to allow animations). But we have no ETA yet on when these features will be released.
