Question / Help On A Single Monitor Is There A Way To Record On-Screen Content, But Not Record Open OBS Window?

I really want to use OBS Studio - I really like the level of control, and am very grateful that it is a free product.

However, I have been struggling for quite a while to understand how to accomplish what I think is a simple task (and I am not a programmer, so am probably wrong about this being simple).

Basically, I would like to be able to maximize and minimize OBS Studio (switch between Scenes, add and remove Sources, and so on) without the graphic of the OBS interface itself being recorded.

To put this another way, any time OBS Studio is maximized on-screen, I would be 'looking through' it at the Scenes I have displayed, but the OBS Studio interface would not be shown on playback because it would not have been recorded.

It it possible to do this on a single monitor?

I realize that I could maximize OBS Studio, start recording, minimize and maximize it as needed, and then later on edit out the parts that I do not want, but there are several disadvantages to this.

I cannot work out a way of avoiding recording the OBS Studio interface, and would very much like to find a way of making it 'float' invisibly.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you.

Unfortunately if you're using display capture, everything on your display, OBS included, will be captured. You could use window capture to only capture the windows you want to show.
