Odd Audio occurring whenever I try using OBS?

I'm trying to use OBS but whenever I try to record something, my mic audio picks up this "sound" and the bar jumps all over the place. I have no idea why this occurs, and when I looked online, it doesn't look like anyone else has this issue? I think I'm making a noob mistake but I don't know what it could be?

Please help, I'm totally lost here
