hiya,
1, does the colour of green matter when green screening, i have a dark green cloth and when i use chromakey it doesnt jump to black like i see on youtube videos. if i light it strongly i can see my video loop playing in back groung but its not clear at all and very crap. i have a logitech c920 cam , do i have to alter setting s on the camera at all. as if i put my hand round the top and shield it from the light slightly the chromakey effect gets slightly better but still total garbage..

You can key out virtually any color using the custom option, maybe play around with that and see if it helps. I find the following Chromakey "Green" values work well for me.....RGB Color Value: 0, 177, 64 or CMYK Color Value: 81, 0, 92, 0. No matter which color you choose, consistent lighting across the green screen area is critical as shade changes will quickly impact the results you get.

Yes. The color matters at all! =D Thats the inherit principle of color (chroma) based keying and masking.

In the world of computers image coloring (the simplest to understand is RGB) dark green and light green are both green. Both contain reasonable amounts of G ("green"). Cause chromakey matches by such fundamental color like green, every other color containing fractions/part of green match to that portion.

Thats the reason to avoid clothing that contains the fundamental key color at all.
Regarding your question: Don't alter settings on the camera! That would be a wrong price to pay. The camera picture quality in terms of brightness, colour, contrast aso. should fit to you and your skin, not your clothing. Go into the chromakey filter properties dialog and play with the first two or three parameters.

If not succesful, change your clothing.

thanks guys for your replies... i dont get anything on the screen, i play a video in the sources - media sources ( looped )
then on vid capture device i go to filters- add- chromakey everything is in default, click close
and nothing .
i can see my camera source with the video looping underneath but i cant see thru any part of the camera source window, only the edges where the camera doesnt cover...

is there any settings on the camera side, its a c920 ..

this should be sooooo simple.

ok guys. progress.... i found camera settings and turned auot white balance off, the brightness and contrast up and i got a good screen image thru... on the only part thats lit up. how bright do you need to light the screen up as im like at 4 million candlepower here...

should you get a image thru--- albeit it a terrible one with only room lights on,

when im in front if i turn contrast up full i get a good quality image showing but i look terrible, when i adjust it to me looking reasonable the image looks wishey washey ...
