Question / Help OBS won't stop recording

I have been trying to record a VHS tape onto a file in my c omputer. Yesterday, I was able to record and save the file, but it ended up with an echo in the sound. I was able to get rid of the echo, but I've tried 3 times to record and save the file, but each time OBS has simply stated that is is "stopping recording." Tonight I waited an hour to see if something would happen, but of course nothing happened. I will leave OBS running in case someone can tell me in a day or two how to stop the recording.

I would not bother keeping OBS running. From the logfile and as you describe, it has hung and is not doing anything.

How many video sources do you have? I am thinking part of your problem may be that you seem to have the same video capture device added into your scene multiple times.

Does the problem occur if you use x264 encoding instead of QuickSync? There have been problems in the past with crashes related to problematic versions of the Intel GPU driver.

I regularly had this happen when recording to MP4. It's STRONGLY advised to NEVER RECORD TO MP4. Record to FLV or MKV, and remux to MP4 later if needed. If the recording is not finalized properly, including on 'stopping recording' hang, the video file will be a useless pile of digital trash and cannot be recovered. If the recording is interrupted in the middle at any point, same problem.

NEVER, EVER record to MP4 directly. Ever.
