Question / Help OBS won't record or stream

Hello, I'm new to this program and so far it hasn't done anything I want it to. I'm not sure what the problem is either.
I've tried to record my desktop and I'd play what I have recorded, there are 2 seconds I can see the mouse cursor move and then it's a still frame after that. When streaming, it's just stuck at one frame, as if it were frozen. I never had a problem when I use Ustream to stream, except it's a bit laggy. I also had FRAPS before (deleted it because I'm stupid, was not bought) and it recorded fine. I'll list the specs on my lap top if that helps. Would it have anything to do with how much my lap top can handle...or? I don't know, I just want this damn thing to work!

AMD DUal-COre Processor C-50
2 GB DDR3 Memory
320 GB HDD
Windows 7

Please post a Log from obs.

But it seems to be a Problem with your PC. I think it cant handle Streaming and Playing at the same Time. Depends on ur Settings on OBS.What is the CPU Usage when u hit record?

Ahh, I never tried that. The CPU usage shot up to 90-98% as soon as I hit record.
Would there be customized settings that I could use from anyone?
Or do I need to buy parts to improve my PC's performance?

I did a quick google search (I don't know why I haven't done so before) and learned that it was my current settings causing the CPU usage to spike at such high amounts. So I fixed my settings to reduce the unneeded high CPU usage. I did a very short recording session, viewed the video and it is no longer at a frozen frame. There are times when it will lag just a little bit but I'm fine with that. I'm happy it's working now. I will still look into getting parts to upgrade my PC's performance, as I want it to do more than what it can do. Thanks NicOnAcid for replying to my post!
