obs won't record desktop audio

When i try to record sound nothing is recorded. i made it so that their was only one meter recording desktop audio but it didn't work

I'm a newbie to OBS and I think desktop audio is for monitoring what is being recorded , on my set up it will only record from the mic/aux channels and it appears only in mono. Have a look in Advanced audio properties .

it didn't work and I'm pretty sure I did the right thing

Having same problem. Disabled all sources except the speakers my sound comes out of. I can see the meter moving when I am recording, but when I play back the file, no sound. Have no idea how to find this setting:
