OBS with Google Slides

I use OBS to push our church service along with an ATEM Switcher between a camera and laptop slide presentation. Everything works well with a Powerpoint slideshow. I would like to use Google Slides as a substitute for Powerpoint. However, when I try to use it, the screen locks up. I can't change slides. This makes it impossible to use during the service.
Does anyone encounter this problem? I would really like to know about a workaround.

There are some ways you might be able to do this. You could export Google Slides to images and then set up an OBS image slide show and hotkeys to control it. You could present Google Slides on a browser and window or display capture with OBS. Or you can use OBS's browser source or a plugin for a browser source, put the URL in and load the Google Slides presenation directly in OBS.

The second option is (imo) the most straight forward to set up and control. Why it locks up, it could be a number of things. Could you explain your setup for OBS, ATEM and Slides? Have you considered sending the computer with Google Slides into ATEM and using StreamDeck or BitFocus Companion to control ATEM and Slides (and OBS if you still wanted to use that instead of streaming directly from the ATEM)?
 
I really hate to make this setup more complicated. I am a novice at this. If there was a way to get Google slides to function through slideshow like Powerpoint, I could utilize it the same way. It just doesn't behave the same way.

I can create another scene and show the slides in source. That will work but pretty much ignores the Atem switching option.
