Hey there, i started using OBS for local recordings for my YouTube channel. I used it on Windows 10 and everything was alright. I switched to Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit 2 weeks ago and tried to record there like in win 10. The Problem is that my recordings stutter doesnt matter what fps i choose. 30 fps stutters and 60 also. In win 10 i didnt had this problem. I was able to record in 1080p60fps just fine without any lag in the video. I needed to switch to win 7 cause my mic doesnt worked correctly with win 10.

The problem is that the games i record run with 100fps+ during the recording and obs just cant record them without them stutter and i don't know why... I have the option to activate v-sync in the games and then the recording is smooth but the game lags a bit with that.

I just want smooth recordings again, anyone has an idea what i can do to fix that?

I will upload that stuttering video to youtube so you can see what i mean.

If i record without v-sync the video stutters
If i recrod with v-sync the recording is smooth but the game has small lags like it would be switch between 59 and 61 fps over and over.

Is it possible that Steam is the problem? I mean i was able to record just fine on windows 10 but not on Windows 7.

Maybe there are compatibility problems with Steam, OBS and Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. And also if a Skype Hint is showing like someone comes Online or so my fps in my games drop to the half during the hint after it goes away it's just fine. Another problem i didnt't got with Win 10. But that doesn't matter in this forum i guess.

And before you ask, yea i tried recording without Skype. That's not the problem.

The Point is that Aero is not enabled in Windows. I use the Windows 7 Basic Skin.

And also, on Win 10 i didnt't even had the option to enable or disable Aero but my recordings just went fine.

Why is that on Win 7?

Use windows 7 aero skin then.

Windows 10 doesn't have the problems with aero that windows 7 does.

If you don't want to be switching between aero on and off all the time, switch back to windows 10.

Disabling Aero didn't helped. It still stutters...

I think it could be either Steam or this:

WARNING: Another hook is already present while trying to hook dxgi.dll, hook target is unknown. If you experience crashes, try disabling the other hooking application
WARNING: Another hook is already present while trying to hook opengl32.dll, hook target is unknown. If you experience crashes, try disabling the other hooking application

And why does V-Sync just can't hold my FPS on 60? That's also a problem for me

This log also shows warning. Is there any way to record frames via cpu instea of gpu without using quick-sync?

You didn't actually fully follow the recording guide.
You missed the crf value and you missed the x264 preset.

Is it maybe my AntiVirus program? "Norton Security Online with Backup"

I don't know it but i really want that problem to be fixed. Does OBS just need some standard windows programs i forgot to install? The settings can't be the problem cause they worked on Win 10. Fact is i need Win 7 for my Mic to work.

Also Preset Ultrafast and Bitrate 1000? That's shitty. I'm sitting on this problem over a month now.

crf based bitrate selection will automatically scale the bitrate and is likely to put your videos at about 50mbit for 1080p60 if you use ultrafast.

But the question is, why do v-sync recordings just work fine without stutter with my settings but causes a little bit ingame lag that doesn't show up in the video?

I tried the Ultrafast settings from the guide.Sadly didn't worked for me...

I'm still wondering if it's could be Steam or my antivirus.

and also what is that?

WARNING: Another hook is already present while trying to hook dxgi.dll, hook target is unknown. If you experience crashes, try disabling the other hooking application
WARNING: Another hook is already present while trying to hook opengl32.dll, hook target is unknown. If you experience crashes, try disabling the other hooking application

I want to know that. Maybe that is the problem. I know that i spam a lot right now and i'm sorry but that problem is frustrating as fuck.

I don't know what the hell i did, but my recordings work now with my old settings. I don't really know what happened but it's nice though.

But i want to know what that Warning message means still. can someone tell me?
