Question / Help OBS Window Capture Doesn't Record Entire Screen

When I preview stream of the Window Capture (compatibility mode on), only about 1/4 of the screen is displayed and the rest is cropped out.

In the picture above, it shows only a portion of the screen being recorded. I was using IE, but the website wasn't even showing on the stream.

I tried to fix the issue by setting the resolution to the monitor's resolution (1920x1080), but I can still only see 1/4 of the screen on stream, and on top of that I get this black space where the rest of the screen should have been.

The same thing happens when I try Game Capture as well, and I can't do Monitor Capture because I get a black screen (I understand that multiple GPUs shouldn't be used, but I can't set the GPU because I only have one option.)

Hey man
This is Polo, first time using OBS. I'm having the exact same issue. Did you fix it ? Does anyone have a clue on how to fix this? This only happens on Window Capture.

Still haven't fixed it, and I'm still waiting for answers lol. I've pretty much abandoned OBS and used Bandicam instead.

Have you removed and re-added the capture source and made sure that OBS is running without dpi scaling in the compatibility properties of the shortcut to it?

Do you mean check the box that says "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings"?

Tried that, didn't help.

I just found out that computers with AMD graphics cards have trouble with OBS, that might be why this is happening

I had similar problems trying to record Wings3D.
"Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" in OBS had no effect.
Recorded image should look like this

but instead looks like this

OBS is the only screen capture software I have so far tried that fails to capture the window(s) correctly.
Perhaps it is my settings but I have tried with full and inner window, layered windows and compatibility mode: to no avail.

I don't know if this is the same issue as reported at the top of the thread but certainly appears similar.

Any further ideas?
