Question / Help OBS w/ a bluetooth headset

Im currently using a Kinivo BTH220 as my headset. The sound is perfect when Im not streaming, but as soon as I start or preview my stream the sound distorts on my end. My viewers say it sounds fine to them, but its really annoying since the sound pops and hisses whenever I want to stream. Help plz.

EDIT: Muting or turning down OBS in Windows volume mixer does not stop the distortion. Sound goes back to normal when I stop streaming or previewing even if OBS is still running. When I click start stream or preview, the headset makes a brief pause before playback resumes and the sound distorts.

EDIT #2: I found the problem! Disabling my bluetooth's mic in Windows fixed the problem, but now I have to use my webcam mic. I cant win!

A work-around would be awesome. I really dont want to have to invest into a mic and add more stuff to my setup before Im even getting viewers.

Yea, this is generally just a hardware issue more than anything unfortunately. Wish I could recommend a workaround, the only thing I can think of is that sometimes lowering the webcam resolution can help.

That sucks. Guess I should have gotten the wired headset after all. I got the BTH so I could take it with me when Im not home and it doubles as a great headset for listening and communicating on Windows as well. Wish I had known there would be an issue before my purchase. Thanks

You couldn't have known, this is more of a motherboard thing, and it only seems to happen on certain motherboards.

Well it's not really that the motherboard is bad or anything, it's just more that there's a lot of data passing through it and some motherboards can cause this static interference on audio devices. It's quite annoying, only certain motherboards seem to have this problem, and only under certain conditions.

Ah that makes sense. Turtle Beach sent me an RMA for a broken headset. Never had any problems with just a regular, wired headset. Thanks for the insight. Definitely will keep that in mind in the future.
