Question / Help OBS Video lag/freezing

Can you switch the GPU to another PCIe slot that has 3.0 support?
And what's all this about?

04:52:18.194: No blackmagic support

The only few lines I should be able to tell are those..

Code:
04:52:18.120: [AMF Encoder] Unable to load 'amfrt64.dll', error code 126.

That is normal if you don't have the AMD video card and the AMF plugin for it.

Code:
04:52:18.192: Couldn't find VLC installation, VLC video source disabled

This line is because VLC Media Player isn't installed, or you have 32bit VLC installed but running 64bit OBS.

Code:
04:52:18.194: No blackmagic support

This is normal. I don't know if Blackmagic capture cards do work since I haven't seen anyone run OBS with it in the Questions & Help forums.

The rest I'm not sure about.

03:20:02.957: Output 'adv_stream': Number of dropped frames due to insufficient bandwidth/connection stalls: 9626 (1.1%)

rendering lag is video card just ever so slightly overtaxed
dropped frames in that percentage means your internet connection is MOSTLY fine but still could be a little better.

Yeah, I don't know why I'd get rendering lag with a GTX 1080 even if I use low in-game settings. Something's changed within the last 2 months and I can't figure out what. I've had zero issues streaming while having games on ultra settings for 4 years straight and suddenly, it only now, becomes an issue. I can understand the internet causing these problems.. but video? This is a first. Thanks for checking it out. You too OG.

The max frametime in the recent log can also cause the result of rendering lags, mainly when the frametime spiked to 126ms. I don't know if I mentioned it but you would have to target 16.7ms at max (provided you're on 60fps) to run the stream/recording consistently.

I have kinda the same problem, i have an overall god system, and used to stream 1080p "For Honor" and "WoW" both with max settings... i was running the last 3 obs studios and never had any issue of that kind. So while running the last obs studio (waht was it 17.02 or something) also had no problems. Until today. I did not change anything and suddenly OBS starts to eat so much CPU and GPU that my system throttles and games get unplayable. So even after changing down all graphic settings in thos games from maximum to minimal, still OBS is hungry and gets the system to studder.

So I updated today to the new 18.0 but nothing changed about that. But the really strange thing is, that before I really changed nothing at all about my side, but suddenly all goes to shredds and nothing is working properly anymore. My system ran so OP before and now feels like a toaster as soon as I turn on OBS...

And really all before everything was so perfect, no load on pc good transition to twitch, very good quality in stream and recording

just wanted to say i had the same problem, and am running 1080ti's and a 24 core xeon, days been trying to work out what the issue was, and i gave in and downgraded obs to version 16.6 found here https://github.com/jp9000/obs-studio/releases/tag/0.16.6

and wham issues now gone. everything working fine and am on the latest windows 10 x64 creators edition,

so it is an issue with obs versions upwards, it been a complete nightmare, could not stream or record,

Except that this thread has NOTHING to do with the creators update, since it's from before the update was available.

I know it does not but I had the issue before the update of windows as well. Even when capturing through hdmi capture card from my consoles. So I have not streamed or recorded via obs for some time due to it when I never had issues before. I was testing it again today all day and that is what sorted out my issue and was responding in hope it helped anyone else. So am sorry if you took it as not helping

Then you were better off starting a new thread for troubleshooting than hijacking someone else's thread and recommending they downgrade.

How is it high jacking a thread with s solution for the issue at hand. Wow really. A forum is there to help people with the same issue you experience. Downgrading obs to fix the issue the op and other people have experienced in this thread is not high jacking at all it providing a solution to an issue. Think you need to chill and stop jumping at some one who is trying to help. If your so interested in the thread then provide a solution that as not already been tested and so on. Thanks for your time.

Can SOMEONE please help me with this asap?! I'm literally unable to stream for the last couple days. When I'm in a game, it's fine.. but the moment OBS is opened.. the game and stream drops to between 1-10fps. I can't have OBS and ANY game opened at the same time anymore without locking up.
