OBS vhs capture - annoying blue source overlay notification

hi everybody

I'm stucking on a problem since some days now
I'm using OBS to capture old vhs, I'm using an upscaler and then the Elgato HD60x

When I have good quality Vhs: no probs
When I have Vhs with dodgy tracking and/or signal interruption, a blue tab is overlayed on my recording multiple times along the capture - see attached picture

I don't know hot to get rid of it :(
Not sure it's a capture card or OBS issue... if something could help me, anyway, that'd be so appreciated

thanks in advance & have a lovely Sunday

That's definitely not OBS. Probably your scaler, because it knows the input is PAL. Only the scaler would know that.

I'd recommend using 640x480 in both canvas and output size, not with a scaler. Just RCA directly to USB. Don't get the absolute cheapest; they tend to have problems too.

thank you very much, Aaron!
though my current setup is actually:

vcr --> scart --> mcbazel upscaler --> hdmi --> elgato h60 x --> OBS
I'm capturing at 1440 x 1080, 50fps, MPEG-4 AAC, H.264 (.mov)
color profile: HD (1-1-1)

vcr...
I'm capturing at 1440 x 1080...
Yeow!!! That's worse than recording 1920x1080 at 4k! What's actually on the tape would fit 4 times into your upscaled frame, with room to spare, without adding any useful information. That's over 4x the data rate and 4x the file size, for no benefit whatsoever, all else being equal.

As soon as you buy an additional hard drive to put all of those recordings on, you would have been better off to buy a capture card instead, to come directly from the VCR, and do it all at 640x480.
