OBS Stuttering Issue above 60fps

Hi all!

Recently I bought a Gaming PC with the major specs being an OC AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, GeForce RTX 3070ti and 32GB DDR4 RAM, and can run pretty much any game I stream at least 90 fps. However, when I play a few games such as ets2 and f1 2021, even though I run fine on the game at like 100fps for example, the stream is stuttering a little bit and I have no idea why this is.

I think it's an issue in OBS and not my PC as if my PC was struggling to encode the stream, wouldn't my PC be slowing down? I have tried different video settings inside OBS but just cannot get that smoothness that other streamers get.

I haven't tried other recording software to see if it's definitely OBS as I use OBS for everything recording although when I have created clips with the Xbox game bar, it captures absolutely fine. I do remember my stepdad saying it's to do that with my framerate not being set/limited, OBS has to do a lot more work to keep the framerate at a steady 60 but comes back to my question about if other people are experiencing this, how do their streams look absolutely smooth like butter?

I can achieve a smooth 60 fps stream but I have to lock in my fps cap to 60 which is fine for a few games, but I would really like the play the game with unlimited fps, but still ensure that smooth recording/streaming I desire.

Any help would be massively appreciated!

Really smooth stream can only be achieved, if the game is rendering with a multiple of the fps you're streaming with. If you stream with 60 fps, your game must run with 60 or 120 or 180, 240... fps. With 120 fps, every other frame is dropped for the stream, everything looks smooth. With 180, a steady 2 frames are dropped and 1 kept, and so on.
But if your game is running with 90 fps or some fractional fps in case you're using GSync/Freesync, and streaming with 60 fps, an odd number of frames need to be dropped from the game fps to get to 60 fps. This uneven dropping is what makes your stream unsteady.
It's not possible to play with 90 fps and stream with 60 fps and get a butter smooth video in the stream at the same time.

Yeah, that's what my stepdad was telling me! So there is no way I can stream/record a video at a smooth 60 with the game running at unlimited fps, it needs to be done with a multiple of 60?
