Hello fellow OBS Users :)
When I record World of Warcraft in 1080p it lags when i record in 1440p it lags, i'm not sure what the issue could be? When I record in 1080p the quality looks like its 720p and not full hd, I'm kinda forced to record in 1440p, is my pc not strong enough or what is the issue?

My PC Settup:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
16gb Ram

You can see the full specs in the github files.

1080p https://gist.github.com/349191ce664a1929371d9d4dd02edd8b
1440p https://gist.github.com/41367773f533735ceca5efa0e9a1fed7

GPU Is at 80% With the game + OBS

Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 82 (15.3%)
This means, your GPU is utilized up to 100% from your Game, so there is no headroom for OBS to render your scene fast enough (this is done via GPU, no matter if you encode via NVENC or CPU).

As this does not happen in 1080p, you might be running on a CPU bottleneck or Game engine fps limit in 1080p, where as 1440p puts more load on the GPU and your bottleneck switches to the GPU.

You simply need to set an fps limit in your game in order to keep some headroom for the GPU to render OBS scenes and then 1440p will run and record smooth.

Btw: Your Windows 10 GameDVR is on. I suggest to disable it (search for "disable Game DVR Windows 10").

Hi BK.Morpheus,
Thanks for the reply.

I have set the fps limit in-game to 60 fps, my GPU is running at 80-90% with the game opened and recording, nothing changes i did set the forground and background to 60 fps.
I will disable the GameDVR :)

Is there a reason to have Window capture + 3x Monitor Capture in the same Scene (Scene called "Scene")?
Usually you want to avoid having game capture, window capture and/or monitor capture active at the same time.

They are deactivated, but I can delete them if that might help.
I'm trying to figure out the GameDVR as we speak :)

Can you upload a sample clip?
What I some times do is this: Download and open GPU-Z, switch to the sensor tab and integrate that window with window_capture into my recording, so I can see the GPU load and stutter later, when I check the video.

Do you record to a mechanical hard disk, or an SSD? Quality 15 on 1080p/1440p with NVENC can produce extremely high bitrates and bitrate spikes.
Maybe test, if lowering the quality to 20 has an effect on the stutter.

Looks almost perfectly smooth to me.
The little micro stutter here and there could come from the game running at 59.94Hz (HDMI and DP connected monitors often show up as "60Hz" in the Nvidia controlpanel, but Windows might show 59Hz).

Was WoW running with exclusive fullscreen mode + vsync or just borderless window?

Its running in window mode, Vsync was off but i tried with it on as well but it still had the stutter and frame drop eventho OBS didnt show any frame drops.

Here is a new one with the GPU-Z https://youtu.be/27Kts8eKbtc

Is there a way to fix the 59.94 Hz ? This monitor is running through the display port.

I edited my monitor data with CRU, to let them run with true 60HZ:

Is the microstutter the same on exclusive full screen instead of borderless window?
I have one game that totally sucks to record when using borderless fullscreen (although most other games will record fine) and that is ARK. Only in exclusive fullscreen mode, my ARK recordings are smooth, which sucks, as alt+tab and switching to my second monitor is annoying this way.

I will try to read through the True 60Hz

My issue with full screen is that my monitor is a ultra wide monitor so the aspect ratio is a bit strange, so i cant record in full screen on this monitor :(

I notice the stutter a lot its just strange :(
