What I need to know is having hardwired my ethernet into this lenovo yoga 710 w intel i7 processor, and a nvidea gforce 940mx with the latest driver I can't get OBS studio to record or stream using the nvidea gforce which is why I bought this. Im not into gaming and just wanted a dedicated graphics card to run 2 cams and mics for a podcast. OBS recognizes the gforce in the dropdown list but it freezes the record and stream buttons. OBS works fine with the intel i7 processor but Ive seen others use the gaming processor for streaming freeing up the other processor. Any suggestions?

I mean when I enter the gforce as encoder and click start stream or record nothing happens. The gpu shows in the dropdown as well as the 3D but obs start stream and record dont respond, they dont even react.

Post full log. Reinstall driver. Try don't use NVENC for both recording and streaming simultaneously.
