I'm using an Elgato HD60 Pro to capture gameplay, and it supports "Instant Gameview" meaning no lag via the HDMI passthrough.
I've recently started streaming with both my Xbox One X and Switch choosing to use my PC monitor rather than my TV, as it's easier this way when streaming. I've noticed that, despite the Instant Gameview of the Elgato, there is a noticeable lag in OBS when using the using the Xbox One. It may only be a second, but it makes games impossible to play, especially fast-paced games with a lot of movement.
However, the Switch I've noticed there is practically ZERO lag at all. I was able to stream Mario Kart 8 without any obvious lag between the button presses and the preview window. I've checked the settings on the Switch, Xbox One and OBS... everything appears to be more or less identical across the board. I just cannot fathom why OBS lags out with the Xbox, but the Switch is completely lag-less.
