Question / Help OBS Studio echo/mic drowned out by audio (at my wits end)

I'm trying to record gameplay of Batman Arkham Asylum for my Youtube using OBS Studio but I'm having an incredibly annoying echo from NPCs/dialogue in game when I play the video back after recording. It seems to go away if I increase the desktop audio on OBS but the problem is then my mic commentary gets drowned out by the game audio. So it becomes a lose-lose situation. I either decrease the desktop audio which increases my mic volume but creates an echo or I increase the desktop audio which removes the echo but drowns out my commentary.

It may be a noob problem since I've only been using Studio for a little while or it could be a headset problem (my headset has a mic built in). But I'd be grateful if any assistance could be given since I just feel like giving up on recording videos because it's getting so stressful.
