Question / Help OBS Studio - Distorted Audio through Capture Card Source

Hi, everyone! I am hoping someone here can help, because I have been troubleshooting this problem for a week now, and the issue remains.

I am running a 2 PC streaming setup. The video is perfect; no syncing issues; cam feed is perfect; audio from desktop mic is perfect (this mic is plugged directly into the streaming rig). The problem is with the audio coming through HDMI via the Capture Card (Avermedia C985). It carries my game audio, and the in-game audio is distorted as if slowed down (voices sound mega deep register). There is no distortion on my end; the stream is what has the distortion.

I'm not sure what other information to include here, so please let me know. Any help is so appreciated! Thanks, everyone, for your time.

Last night's log file is attached.

I think this is to do with your Audio Sample Rate, your capture card has a sample rate of 32000 whereas OBS is using 48000. Can you change the configuration in the properties for your capture card?

Thank you so much! Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to modify the audio sample rate from 32k to 48k in my capture card's settings. I've attached an image of what I see in the advanced settings in RECentral (the software for Avermedia HD C985).

Any thoughts?

This looks like it might be down to the device that you are capturing. I plugged my Xbox One into my Avermedia ExtermeCAP U3 and it immediately came up with a sample rate of 48000 which is what I was expecting to see.

What device do you have connected to your capture card?

I have my gaming PC connected to the capture card via HDMI. I've switched HDMI cables now to try to make sure it's not a cable issue.

Where are you able to see that it came up with a sample rate of 48000? That might help me figure out where to look.

I'm just looking in the OBS log, I don't see anywhere in the Avermedia configuration to set this which is what made me think it's the source. I wonder if it's a configuration on your source PC which is causing it, what sample rate do you have set on your HDMI output in Windows, Sounds, Playback devices

I double-checked everything in both playback and recording on both machines, just to be doubly sure. All devices were set to 48k.

So I switched to a different HDMI cable between the capture card and my gaming PC, and voila! I ran a test stream to see if there was still any distorted audio when other players spoke to me in-game, and it's flawless now.

Culprit: HDMI cable apparently!

I am so so so appreciative of your help, Adrian!
