Question / Help OBS Studio Crashing

I'm currently having a repeating issue where OBS Studio becomes unresponsive and crashes seemingly at random. The strange parts about this are that it only crashes when I'm playing Minecraft and it always tends to crash around 10 to 15 minutes of OBS running (if it decides to crash for that session). This happens whether I am streaming live or not.

I've tried reinstalling OBS Studio and rebuilding the scene from scratch and the issue still persists. I've also read on these forums that Minecraft must be streamed with Game Capture but that didn't seem to fix things either. I can't seem to figure out exactly what about Minecraft is causing OBS Studio to crash since every other game I stream has been perfectly fine.

Here's the log of the most recent crash: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/2365a909c6fe6dbf8400ada47910cc09

Thanks for taking the time to read and help out!

That's not a crash log, we'll need to see a crash log.

Press WinKey+R or go to Start > Search and type %APPDATA%\obs-studio\crashes and then press enter. Find the log with most recent timestamp on it, open it, and copy the contents to https://gist.github.com/ and then link here.

Oh, my apologies!

The confusing part is the most recent crash log I find in that folder is from August which is unrelated to my current issue...

Oh, sorry my mistake. You mean that Minecraft is crashing, not OBS?

No, no you weren't mistaken. It's all honestly very confusing.
What happens exactly is after about 10 or so minutes of OBS being open with Minecraft being captured, OBS Studio will become unresponsive and that typical pop-up where you choose to end task or not occurs. Minecraft stays perfectly fine through all this as far as I can tell. I assumed it was a crash until this moment but I suppose it is more of a freeze.

No crash report is generated from this as you can already tell.

Hmmm. Yeah that usually indicates some other kind of failure or hangup in a process that OBS is attached to, but not in control of (usually a webcam or other capture device, but can be other things as well).

Are you running any kind of antivirus or other security software?

I would recommend uninstalling it, temporarily, to see if this issues go away. Avast is notorious for messing with OBS because it's a terrible program.

I uninstalled it and the problem still occurs. I've also been using Malwarebytes if it would help to get rid of that instead.

Also, is it possible that a mod that I use in Minecraft could be affecting OBS Studio in a weird way to cause this?

If you are using graphical mods (not texture packs, stuff like shader mods and similar) they can cause conflicts, yes.

Ooh... okay then! I use mods that add a better HUD and minimap in game so I imagine those fall under the similar category. I'll do a bit of testing then!

Well, I've tried getting rid of all my mods/shaders and re-installed Minecraft and the problem still occurs. I really can't think of what's causing this mess.
