Question / Help OBS Studio crashes at startup, still broadcasts but has a "crash" Dialog box until I hit OK

I have been streaming for almost 2 years and I have LOVED OBS studio ever since I started using it a few months ago. I have a 2 pc set with my OBS running on my MSI GT70 gaming laptop and I use an Elgato HD60 capture card to capture my gaming PC I built earlier this year.

Recently, I've been getting crashes as soon as I start up OBS. It doesn't happen every time I open OBS, but usually I have to force quit the OBS process in the task manager a few times and restart to get everything stable. I think there might be some conflict with my capture card and OBS because I often have to wait 20+ seconds for the capture card source to load or restart/disable/enable the capture card to get it to load. Here's my latest log file from a crash I experienced just now loading OBS: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/0617c8d5ac5cc692144a68243f70a70d

It says I didn't load OBS as administrator, so I'll paste another log file where I did open as adminstrator but still got the crash: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/90bb16c6b24eaa164593af3012e360a6

Thanks for any help!

Neither of those are crash logs. When you get the crash message, click yes to copy and paste it to pastebin.com and link here.

Again, those are normal logs. When you get the message "Oops! OBS has crashed!" you need to click "Yes" to copy to the clipboard and manually paste the log into https://gist.github.com, submit it, and then link here. Alternately, you can upload one of the previous crashes:

Press WinKey+R or go to Start > Search and type %APPDATA%\obs-studio\crashes. The contents can be copied to https://gist.github.com/ and then linked here.

This file is from a series of crashes as I was reloading OBS studio over and over trying to get an instance of it not crashing, hopefully that is the correct info. Sorry about the bad links before.

That's not a crash log, but it's likely the same elgato crash. Since we have no control over their software or drivers, you will need to reach out to elgato directly.

Ok, I think I may have figured out the problem, I had 2 separate video captures going with the elgato hd60 so I could have different settings for 2 games. Think they may have conflicted with each other. I still feel like there are some incompatibilities between obs and the Elgato HD60. OBS wouldn't load the elgato correctly until I already had the elgato software running, then shut it down after loading OBS studio, which seemed to force OBS to recognize the Elgato or something. It seems that having 2 separate video captures of the same source is not a good idea, even if one is disabled, I'm not sure if this true with other video capture devices or not.

To eliminate OBS's involvement try and record using Elgato's own software (which isn't terribly bad, looking at you Avermedia :-p).

Yeah, you should only have one OBS Source per actual Capture Device.
