Hi at all hope you can help me?
I have opened and Updated OBS Studio today (28.1.2)
I did not use it for some time.
But now every time I want to add a Video Capture Device, OBS Studio is crashing.
I can´t even open settings on my Cam´s, OBS Studio is crashing when opening Video Device settings.
And my Cam´s do not work anymore?

Okay so I was having this issue as well, so on the above advice, I uninstalled my NVIDIA drivers and let Windows re-install the 516.94 drivers and I no longer get the crash, the Video Capture Device properties window loads and OBS continues to run.

So I now tried rolling back driver, but it did not solve the issue?
Also some of my friends, also do use the newest driver and are having no issues?
I think its an OBS Issue? I can remember that I had that issue sometimes over the last 2 years, but I always thought it maybe would be the Webcam itself?!
But its only OBS the cam´s are working fine in all other programs!?

If your friends don't have issues then it's not an OBS issue.
win-capture-audio.dll used to cause issues in the past. Remove it an see if it fixes it.
Check for the webcam drivers if they're updated. Reinstall. Same with the program the webcam should come with.

Can confirm that deleting VSeeFace (I also installed it two years ago lol) fixed my issue of OBS/Streamlabs/Twitch Studio freezing anytime I tried to add a video capture device. Which is odd because Discord and Nvidia Broadcast would still load webcams, just not any streaming/recording software.

I just fixed it by uninstalling VTUBE.. look for anything with face tracking and that should be it. The issue is solved for me without rolling back anything. It also solved the fact that obs would never close without end task.

has the issue with the Nvidia driver been resolved? I'm currently facing this same issue on a fresh build of windows 22H2. I'm unable to use the driver version mentioned as it states it is not compatible with this version of windows. I have 2 USB cameras and 2 different capture cards which all work with the build in windows camera app which lends me to believe the devices are functioning correctly.

Update to this issue. as strange as this is going to be. I decided to upgrade to windows 11 22H2 and it has resolved this issue for myself. I can now add video capture devices and it does not cause OBS to hang.

The problem turned out to be with unity-capture based virtual cameras, not the Nvidia driver. This is popular with VTuber software. Updating them should resolve it.

I did not have this installed. my issue was on a fresh build of windows with only OBS installed. no other software was installed on the computer outside of default windows WHQL drivers.

You probably have an unrelated issue caused by too many devices on a single USB controller.

I researched this problem for 3 weeks. I have 3 cameras, 2 of them are Emeet and one Logitech. I found out that if you plug the 2 Emeet cameras in the same USB controler OBS crashes the entire machine. I bought a PCI USB card and plug 1 Emeet camera on that card and the other in the motherboard USB controler and it solved the problem. Let me know if this helps you.
