Question / Help OBS struggles to record

Hello, I've been using OBS Studio for quite a while, I used to record overwatch and fortnite in 1080p 60fps with no problems, but now OBS struggles to record fluently even in 720p, the games are running fine, but when I glance to my second monitor OBS records everything between 45-8 FPS. I even upgraded from gtx 960 2GB to gtx 1060 6GB, the games are running even better but OBS still cannot record properly. I'm on the latest version of OBS and I updated to the latest Nvidia drivers.
My specs:
Intel Core i5 4690
16GB Ram
GTX 1060 6GB
Here are the recording settings:

Thanks for everyone who helps!

You shouldn't use CBR for recordings. Use CQP (for NVENC) or CRF for x264. You generally also wouldn't use the High Performance preset when recording unless you had to, and you generally shouldn't have to unless the system can't keep up on High Quality or Default. The Simple Output Mode recommend in the recording guide avoids both of these issues.

Can you do another session like this, but then close OBS, reopen OBS, and select Upload Last Log File from the Help menu (Help > Log Files > Upload Last Log File)?

Please download GPU-Z and post a screenshot (the camera button in the program and upload to free image hosting). Do this while you have a game running.

I've changed the settings to the recommended CQP settings from the guide, but it doesn't seem to fix the issue.
It wouldn't have. I was just noting it now while I observed that issue.

@BK-Morpheus has the right of it. Limiting your games to your display refresh rate is often the solution for GPU overload. I just wanted to walk through the other tests before getting there, since there may have been other factors. Glad it's working now!
