Question / Help OBS Settings For 0.48.14+??

I have read through the guide for OSB for optimal settings for streaming but the guide is from a few versions back now and a few things have been altered and extra options added so i was wondering if there was a guide for what these new settings show be set at? I have attached my log from the last stream i did.

For example, should CBR option be used in Encoding settings, should a 'Scene Buffering Time' and 'Use CFR' be set in Advanced Settings? I have also noticed a get a message saying, 'The Colour Scheme has changed to Windows Basic' when i start up OBS??

This is my connection speed:

Im running an i7 @4Ghz and 6GB of RAM on Windows 7 64-Bit

These are my current settings:

The reason you are getting the "color scheme has changed" message when you start up OBS is because you have ticked the "Disable Aero at startup" checkbox in the Video settings, Aero should only be disabled if you intend to use the "Monitor Capture" part of Software Capture.

CBR (constant bit rate) is usually safe to turn on, the option attempts to keep your upload more stable, turning it off is mostly useful for games with lots of fast motion along with setting the quality balance lower. As for the scene buffering time, you usually don't have to change it.
CFR is Constant Frame Rate, and should only be used if you intend to use your local recordings in a non-linear video editor, such as Sony Vegas.

Also, 1600 Kbps is slightly low for 720p and sixty frames per second. You'll get a smoother stream, but your visual quality may be noticeably degraded, depending on what game you are streaming.

Thanks for the info so, for a FPS, beat em ups, and shoot em ups streams i should Disable 'Disable Aero at Startup' but other stuff leave Aero enabled?

What is a good kbps to select for my 2.93 Mb/s connection, 1800-2000?? I guess i can change the FPS down to 30 as Youtube only supports upto 30fps for its videos and they are fine, maybe 60fps is overkill really? If i change the FPS down to 30 does that only effect the stream and not my actual gamplay session?

As what about the Network settings in Advanced Settings, 'Bind To Interface', 'Automatic Low Latency Mode' and 'Latency tuning Factor'??

Disabling Aero doesn't really matter for the type of stream you're doing, quality will be the same, it's just that the specific "Monitor Capture" part of Software capture will perform very badly if Aero is enabled.

As for 2.93Mbps, you should be able to use somewhere around 2-2.4 depending on how stable your connection is, and how much any online games need to work without lag issues. Changing the frame rate to 30 FPS might affect your actual gameplay frame rate if you are using the OBS preview as replacement for a TV/display when playing the game. I'm not actually sure about that one though, I always try to keep the preview running at the same frame rate of the game I'm capturing, when streaming from consoles.

As for the advanced network settings, I unfortunately don't know the details, I only know that they shouldn't be changed unless in very specific conditions when the "Minimize network impact" option in the Broadcast Settings does not alleviate ping issues while playing offline. Bind to Interface is only for selecting a specific network adapter.

I usually play from my Main LCD TV with the few streams i have done (im still new to this) so the 30fps shouldnt be effecting my game play then hopefully. My borther sometimes plays multiplayer on his xbox so thats why i didnt use alot of kbps for the stream, if im moving down to 30fps @720 would 1700kbps be enough, or should i still increase it?

I like to keep an eye on what the stream is doing so i have the Twitch window open when i streaming, i guess this will also effect why upload speed it im watching my own stream whilst streaming. Would shrinking this window to its smallest size help with bandwidth or wouldnt it make any difference?, is there a way to not have a window with the game play up at all but still have the chat open??

1700 should be fine for 1280x720 and 30 frames per second, there are some cases where it won't be quite enough, but this is because of the way the encoder works, and there's not much that can be done about it aside from some rather small tweaks here and there.

While having the Twitch window open won't affect your upload, it will affect your general system performance. If you wish to have only the chat up, you can click the little "Gear" icon next to the chat and choose "Pop out", this will give you a separate window with only the chat.
