OBS Scripts

Downloaded OBS Studio and started recording. I want to be able to read scripts off the laptop during recording but unable to as I do not have any scripts .lua or .py files. I did download Python app but its not what I thought it do as I am not a tech. How do I add in my normal scripts (from my Word doc) to read from whilst recording, at eye level.

Python and Lua are programming languages, and python/lua scripts are actually small programs that can run within OBS. This is something completely different to a script you read while recording.

There are different ways to provide a script to read while recording.
  • You can print the script and read from a paper.
  • You can run the app you use to write the script on your laptop and show it on a second monitor.
  • You can run the app you use to write the script on your laptop next to OBS, so you read from the laptop screen. You must not run OBS fullscreen, instead arrange both apps on the desktop so you see both.
  • You can use a second device to show the script and read from that second device. For example a tablet.
  • It also depends on if you want to record yourself with a camera. In this case, you need to move the text you read near the camera direction, so your eyes don't look away but still into the camera.
You might perhaps want to look for teleprompter apps: https://www.google.com/search?q=teleprompter+software

There are also interesting teleprompter DIY makes: https://www.google.com/search?q=teleprompter+makes

Ah ok, the scripts meant something completely different for me here. Yes, I'm reading from the printed paper whilst being recorded but I was told also to try and read from another laptop too. Ok, I will consider which is my best option. Thank you.
