OBS screen freezes when I alt+tab

So I've been capturing a couple of episodes of an anime on Crunchyroll to share with a friend who wants to watch them without the ads. The way I do it is that I put up the episode in fullscreen, pick the correct window capture in OBS, start recording and then press alt+tab to change to another window so that I can multitask. This has been working great for the past two weeks. But today, I checked my recording and discovered that the video I was capturing was black. The sound was still there though, and weirdly, the subtitles were still visible (though also frozen together with a black screen). I tried to restart OBS, and then my laptop, but the problem remains. In order to record the episode, I had to stay in the fullscreen window and not tab to another until the recording was done.

I have not been messing with any settings as far as I know. Interestingly, I don't have this problem with Firefox windows. Only when trying to capture videos on Chrome.
Does anyone have even a clue to why this is happening so suddenly?

(And if OBS specifically discourages users from this kind of activity, then I promise to never do this again, but also, do you know what caused this problem to begin with?)
