So, I've been trying to use OBS to record gameplay and every time it gives me a weird file that cannot be played. I cant play it in vlc, movie maker, or windows media player. I have some experience streaming with obs but this is my first time recording. This happens for flv and mp4 recordings. It always happens on longer recordings but only happens sometimes on short recordings less than 10 minutes. I am recording to a portable hard drive connected by usb3.0. I do not get a cpu warning or dropped frames during the recording. What am I doing wrong?
settings:
file output only
encoder x264
use cbr
enable cbr padding
max bitrate 15000
audio codec aac
audio bitrate 320
base res 1920 1080
no downscale
30fps
use multithreaded opts.
scene buffering time 700 ms
x264 cpu preset veryfast
use cfr
Also, it seems like it doesn't keep a log for these recordings that give me a messed up file.
