everytime I record a video (mp4 format) no matter if it is 20 fps or 60 fps, its always choppy and low quality!!! why is this? I thought my pc was powerful enough to do this sort of task. I get anywhere from 180-300 fps in game while recording/streaming on max settings, so why can't I do the (what i think should be simple) task of recording a 30-60fps video on a game such as counter strike in at least 720p?
-Thank you, Don.

Based on the settings you've listed, you didn't actually follow the recording guide.
Also, you didn't post your obs log.

You didn't completely follow the recording guide
x264 preset needs to be ultrafast
and crf doesn't need to be below 15.
