When i record gameplay using OBS it works fine as long as everything is under 3.99gb. For some reason whenever it hits 3.99gb it will still say im recording, yet when i stop recording, the video is unplayable. HAve tried it about 3 times now and the file always maxes out at 3.99gb before it becomes unplayable. Any ideas why?

FAT32 has a per-file size limit that you're exceeding.

You may not need to format, but at a minimum you will need to convert to ntfs.

Im having the same problem, videos with a size of 3.99 gb which cant be played. Im recording on an external driver and never had any problems so far. Im using OBS Studio and videos max out at 3.99 gb (i assume) but as far as i know the driver is ntfs

There are pretty much no other reasons it would stop at that size. You can also easily check, just open the properties of your harddisk in windows explorer.
