OBS receives sound, but not heard. HELP. Will fly you to my home, feed you and pay you.

I have been struggling for weeks sometimes five six hours at a time trying to make my Mac M1 play sound from OBS. The program registers the audio coming in, but you can't hear it, and if you try and record it you can't hear it on the recording either.
