I have been trying to use a 3DS capture card in tandem with OBS so I can play games from my monitor or TV. However when I do so, there is a very noticeable stutter/lag and consistent drops to 30fps from 60 as I play. This occurs both within OBS itself, and in the native capture card software that is supported (this is a capture card from Loopy if that adds context)
I suspect this has to do with v-sync but changing the v-sync settings for the 3DS capture software does not change the preview or the stutter. I have also tried this on a laptop I own and I run into identical issues.
The catch however is that everything that I record, whether through OBS, or even the capture software's built in recording, does not exhibit this stutter/behavior at all in the final output file. It is perfectly fluid with no issues.
I thought that this stutter/lag might just be inherent to the software itself, but I have talked to people who do not have this issue at all, so I am hoping that there is something I can fix to have it run properly. I have included two clips to show what I am talking about:
3DS capture preview as I see it on my screen (has stutter/frame drops, most noticeable about 28 seconds in): https://youtu.be/1d4bMTyevY0
3DS final output file (does not have stutter/frame drops): https://youtu.be/iwa0GMM84iI
Also here is a log file for the capture although I am not sure if this will help discover anything since there are no issues with the actual output files: https://obsproject.com/logs/kEDgxAn3hzjtk_iJ
