OBS only recording 1/2 Party Chat

Hello.

So, I have OBS setup like I want it to be. Records everything as it should. No problem. There is me an another person on Party Chat (Xbox One) so that we can talk while playing the game. I recorded like I always do and upon playback, my voice isn't being heard on the recorded video, but the other players voice is. What am I missing here? They can hear me in Party Chat, so I just assumed that it was also going to been on the video as well. The other players voice is being baked into the gameplay audio track by the way.

So, any ideas? And what should I do on my end?

Also, is there a way to record their voice and my voice on its own audio track, separate from the game audio track? And if yes, how do I do that?

Thanks in advance.

If you're using a mic plugged into your controller, OBS can't capture that. Elgato sells a 'chat link' cable which is basically a splitter, allowing you to plug your console mic into both the console (controller) and an input on your PC, so your voice can be recorded. You can also just use a second microphone plugged into your PC if you have one laying around and don't want to buy a niche cable.

Your console does not send separated audio; the game and chat are sent in the same unified signal, and cannot be split out again. If you use the Chat Link cable (or a second microphone), THAT can be saved to a separate track. Your friend's is mixed into the game audio though.

Normally streamers will use Discord, Teamspeak, or Skype for voice-comms, which will allow separate handling of voice audio.
