OBS not running, but Task Manager says it is, as a background process

Just installed OBS. When launch, OBS shows running when viewed in task Manager, but not in the system tray nor visible on screen. When attempt to launch again, get the 'already running' pop-up.

Uninstalled, re-download, install, (attempt to) launch (repeat), all with same result. Even attempted a few restarts.

Last log file attached, all other log files appear about the same, and end exactly the same, (can upload if requested.)

Noticed a few similar threads in the forum. One from about 2006 on WIN7, was not helpful. One from Aug-2021 had no replies (no log file, just a screenshot).

Thanks in advance.

Although not ideal for the 64-bit version, after many other attempts and trial solutions, ended up running “Windows Compatibility Troubleshooter” and am now running in "Windows compatibility mode: Windows 8”.

Would still prefer an actual remedy to this issue.

Still have the initial problem.... When I close the on-screen session, Task Manager still registers an active "background process" session. Thus, if try to relaunch OBS, it still gives the 'already running' popup. When exit the program, it appears to not fully exit as it does not release all resources.

Log files attached. "multi" is when open multiple instances of OBS from 'already running' warning popup window. Other file is when finally launched on-screen.

What is the best way to fix OBS not running, but showing as a background process in Task Manager? I would be very happy if you could let me know, thanks

If process in Task Manager, then Operating System considers it 'running' [or hung].
That you can't see UI is irrelevant. and I say this as semantics matter in this scenario. Saying OBS Studio showing in Task Manager but not running is misleading/in-accurate. OBS Studio IS running.

I have no specific OBS Studio experience ever doing anything like that, but it is not all that uncommon on various computer platforms. troubleshooting is similar across all
In that scenario, I'd be inclined to
- reboot computer
- turn off all unnecessary background processes/tasks (which? depends on your setup/for you to determine)
- *if* problem happened with recent OBS Studio update or plugin addition/update
I'd start with moving plugin (hopefully not streamlements, as others have said repairing OBS Studio apparently requires a re-install of OBS?)
- Start OBS Studio in safe mode (I'll let you look up the command line switch to do that)
- Then reset docks and any other OBS Studio UI tweaks. make it as generic as practical, on single main screen
- then exit OBS Studio, restart OBS normally.

"Windows compatibility mode: Windows 8”.
This action is actually more likely to actively break functions of OBS rather than fix anything. OBS is coded against and designed for current versions of windows. It is actually no longer compatible with windows 8 as of version 28, so running OBS in compatibility mode for older versions of windows is NOT the correct procedure to do here.

AVG has, in the years since it was bought out, become progressively worse and worse an antivirus to use.
