OBS not picking up Canon XF 205 via video capture card/black screen

Once I have everything connected (Canon XF 205 to Video Capture device connected via HDMI cable, capture device plugged into Dell E5270 Core i5 laptop) the only three options for a "device" is:
1. Integrated webcam
2. USB video
3. OBS virtual camera

I select "USB video" but there's just a black screen. How do I solve this?
