Question / Help OBS not detecting elgato as a device.

So I just got an Elgato Game Capture HD. I downloaded the most recent versions of the elgato capture software and OBS. When trying to add a new video capture device my elgato does not show up although my webcam does. I have tried any troubleshoot I could find. I am using 32-bit OBS as I found that was a main problem, but still does not find my device. The device does work as when opening the elgato capture software it shows up and I am able to stream with it. I downloaded the original elgato capture software which was detected by OBS, but apparently new Game Capture HD devices are incompatible with older versions and are not detectable. So for my device to be used I can only use the most recent software. But like I said when using the most recent software OBS does not detect it. I have searched everywhere for a fix and called Elgato support who claim that the newest software and devices work with the OBS software.

Install both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the elgato software

And absolutely do NOT have the elgato software running when you try to add the device to OBS.
