Question / Help OBS not capturing 3-D graphics window in Windows 8.1 64-bit

I'm recording a training video for a simulation software package that uses 3-D graphics for model display, rotation, zoom, etc. The computer is a Windows 8.1 laptop, and I have set both the software and OBS to use the "High Performance NVIDIA Processor" in the NVIDIA Control Panel. If I use Window Capture mode, the Preview Stream shows all non-graphics windows of the software just fine but the Graphics window is blank (white). If I use Game Capture mode, Preview Stream shows everything as one black window. Any help / advice will be much appreciated. Log files window_capture.log and game_capture.log are attached.

Maybe an incompatibility with the software you're trying to capture. Does it support at least DirectX 9? Have you tried monitor capture? Its generally the worst performing capture method, but you might not have a better option with OBS. What about other screen capture software, like FRAPS or CamStudio?

Thanks for the reply. The software I'm trying to capture has OpenGL-based graphics, not DirextX. Does that mean it's incompatible with OBS? Monitor capture does work, but I wanted to avoid it if possible. I haven't tried other software yet. Are there any other open source software similar to OBS?

Try OBS multiplatform. 1 it seems your laptop/pc detects multiplc GPUs so maybe that is it or its the OpenGL.

OBS Multiplatform can work around either or both of these. there is a option in game capture for multiGPU as well as openGL renderer.

Installed OBS Multiplatform, tried both OpenGL and Direct3D 11 renderer. Same results as before: blank graphics window in Window Capture mode, all black in Game Capture mode. Monitor capture does work, so I'll have to stick with it.

By the way, the user interface in OBS MP is great!

Yeah, I like it better and as you use it, you'll find it can do far more
