OBS Noob question about using my iPad Pro to display virtual whiteboard

I am running Windows 10 and I have the latest version of the 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 inch screen. I want to teach my math lessons where my students can see my iPad screen and what I am writing (like it is a whiteboard); while, at the same time, there will be a webcam of me talking to the camera so they can see me. I went on the Discord server for help and was told that I probably need a Capture Card. I am about to buy one of these, but I want to be sure that it will work. I've watched a few YouTube tutorials and also know which cords I will need to get.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

My goal is to click "source" on OBS and see that my iPad or my Capture Card is available as a source.

The Elgato GameCapture 60S is a very solid capture card, but you will also need an HDMI-out adapter for the Ipad, if it does not have an HDMI port built in.

You might be better-served using Elgato's Screen Link app though. It has a 10-minutes-at-a-time trial version, and the full (time-unlimited) version is $10. They also have a guide for how to use it with OBS. Here's their product page: https://www.elgato.com/en/gaming/screen-link

I'd probably go for the app first... even just dinking with the trial version to see if you can get it working, before splashing out a couple hundred on a capture device. Here's a link to the how-to for OBS Studio with it: https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/ar...ink-Using-with-3rd-Party-apps-like-OBS-Studio

Procreate is fantastic for this purpose. I've used it for all of my math teaching, and I absolutely love it! It's more expensive, but that's because it works and is supported.
