Question / Help OBS never stays at 60FPS no matter what encoder I use.

Hey everyone!

I know this has been gone over many times but every fix i find doesn't work. I've tried everything from no cameras, formats, changing process priority and even installing "missing" windows files

I stream at 1280x720 at 60FPS and have random luck at my FPS staying at 60FPS no matter the game. I really need help because it's driving me insane.

Limit ingame fps, until your GPU load stays below ~95%. This will allow OBS to render the scene fast enough (scene rendering is done by the GPU, it is done, even when you don't record/stream).
 
Had the same issue. I use OBS+NDI and though everything is set up to use 60fps, my streams surely were not. I think the issue was resolved but im not sure how yet. I updated OBS to 21.1.2, and rebooted and I think I made some other tweaks, and some how i saw actual 60fps. I will go back through but if I see what exactly I did, ill let you know
 
Webcams and Capture cards increase your rendering time as well.
Having Chrome/Firefox open with anything hardware accelerated takes GPU away from OBS, don't watch your own stream or anyone elses stream.
Windows won't balance the GPU usage correctly, the GPU usage will split between the game and browser and choke out OBS. The second you open a browser to a stream then go back to the game your FPS will shit the bed in OBS

don't use capture card (tho one is installed) or a webcam.
I use chatty or chatterino.
so most of those don't apply.
can browser source case FPS issues?
