OBS messes with audio quality as soon as I open it

Description of issue:
  1. Merely opening OBS will destroy audio quality for all songs I am playing (especially the bass seems to get nuked).
  2. Occurs instantly & is not related to actively using OBS (recording/streaming).
  3. Upon closing OBS, audio returns back to normal instantly.
Always using headphones if relevant, can't check if it occurs without them because I have no speakers atm.
Log file shows no critical issues or warnings.

Thanks for the assistance, appreciated!

deinstall it defender make the same job but not so many problems

did you use the orginal platronics USb interface?

other ideao use voicemeter

it can be a driver problem or chipset problem with the plantronics conector so when obs try to use desktop audio capture the interface has problems !

Hello cyclemat,

First off thanks for the help so far!

I didn't quite understand everything you've suggested so far, but your comment regarding Plantronics USB interface did made me check something (that I should've checked earlier):
- Issue only occurs when I use the headset via USB (with mic/volume control)
- If I plug in the headset directly with just the aux cable everything is fine!

So this is definitely the culprit. Any way to "fix" the usb connector so that I can use the headset full fledge?
Without it I have no operational mic whilst gaming.

See image below for clarification if needed.

your problem is the PT soundinterface

when you plug in the headeset you you PC you only uses the headphone jack so you need this converter

its split up Headset and mic and you can connect booth to your PC.

the other idea with voicemeter is you mix what you need and send one mix direct to obs and one to your headset over the virtual cable so obs didnt must grab the sound from the PT Soundinterface ! this must work i used the same way when people uses bluetooth headsets !

What fixed it for me was changing my OBS microphone input to the proper one that I was using and for some reason that cleared it up.

I registerd just to reply to your post. Thanks a lot!! This was bugging me for ages.
I use sony 1000xm4 headphones via bluetooth and whenever started obs it messed up the sound real bad. Like listening to an old radio bad. (although the mic was mutted in obs)
I just disabled mic and sound is good now. Thanks!
