Bug Report OBS making my microphone sound "as it's far away"

Try turning exclusive mode off to your mic devices. Right-click the volume control icon on you system tray and click on recording devices. Then double click on whatever hardware you need to change this setting of (I do it with all my devices) and then under the "Advanced" tab uncheck the top checkmark of the Exclusive Mode and hit Apply or OK.
See if this works for you.

Exclusive mode is unchecked. Tried checking it, no changes - when I launch OBS, discord starts behaving weird.

Found out a solution. It was discord's streaming kit - a browser source, that was intended to show who's in the room speaking at the moment. After removing this source, discord app's microphone normalised.

EDIT: Restarted OBS and it began again...

Well crap. I feel bad for not being able to remember how a friend of mine fixed a few weeks ago but it seems to have slipped my mind. I thought it was the exclusivity mode.

No, I removed all instances of discord browser from my obs and it seems to have fixed the issue.
I created a thread with bugreport in their subreddit, hope they'll notice it and take some actions.

Ah okay. I was thinking of maybe using that feature from Discord in the future but I guess I'll just do it as now to avoid these problems. Thanks for the headsup ^^

It didn't use to cause such bugs in the past with another soundcard, but guys were complaining that I just changed my loudness sometimes. Seems like the previous soundcard managed to get over that bug and it didn't cause such problems until I moved to fewer quality mics and sound systems.
