Question / Help OBS making my game lag

Hi Guys,

I'm someone who's trying to record gameplay footage. (Not streaming)
I've been trying to switch over to OBS from shadowplay but I'm having issues. At first I couldn't even get OBS to record anything that didn't look like 8bit gameplay.
Shadowplay gave me good recordings, but my audio there was terrible as my mic pics up everything. Where as in OBS I can clean the audio up a bit and it is a bit more reasonable, so that why I want continue with OBS. However I'm not sure if it will work for me, so I'm looking for some help.

My system
i5-4690k
Nvidia GTX 970
16gb DDR3 Ram
Windows 10

So after watching countless of videos, I've managed to get the recordings at an ok level, where they don't seem choppy. However my issue is that when I record my game itself lags. I'm having massive frame drops. Even when not recording and OBS is open it still lags, as soon as I close it, it's back to normal.

Here is the log file: https://obsproject.com/logs/xstPtmI7-PyF6OaM

I'm fairly new to this, so if I've missed anything or you need any other information let me know! It would be absolutely amazing If i can resolve this and use OBS properly with good results.

Thank you!

What kills your setup is that you set Color Format to RGB.
In Settings->Advanced set Color Format back to NV12 (which was the default) and make sure Color Range is Partial (which is also the default and should not be changed).
Then do Tools->Auto Configuration and optimize for gameplay.

Please don't set things away from the default unless you exactly know what a change will do, and only if it's necessary to change a default value. In your case it wasn't neither necessary nor you knew what it would result.
